🌿 Dublin: A Green City with a Taste for Plant-Based Living 🇮🇪

31 May 2025
@sprout_and_co MONKSTOWN 📍 Jack’s first kitchen job as a commis chef was at Avoca’s Salt Cafe, where he made endless croque monsieurs 🥪. Fast forward 14 years, many bowls 🥗 later, we’ve just opened our 8th Sprout & Co restaurant 10 doors down the road from where he started. On opening day, we sold €6,168 worth of food, all of which will be donated to Barnardos Children’s charity to support their work. Thank you to everyone who has come through our doors since opening—we are delighted to be part of the neighborhood! #newrestaurant ♬ original sound - Sprout & Co

As Dublin’s plant-based scene blossoms, it’s not just the flavors that nourish—it’s the feeling of something deeper taking root. Like Melt’s Plant the Garden, the city hums with quiet intention, each bite a gesture of care, each café a seed of change. Sustainability here isn’t loud—it’s lyrical. It grows in cycle lanes, in oat milk lattes, in mushroom burgers with attitude. And just like the song, Dublin reminds us: when you plant with love, the garden always answers. 🌼

Dublin is quietly becoming one of Europe’s most eco-conscious capitals, blending sustainability with style and flavor.

From its expanding cycle lanes and electric buses to zero-waste markets and community gardens, the city is embracing a greener future. But where Dublin truly shines is in its plant-based culinary scene, offering a vibrant mix of vegan restaurants that cater to every craving—from comfort food to fine dining.

Here are some of the best vegan and vegan-friendly spots in Dublin right now:

The Quiet Revolution of Taste
Here’s a quiet insight tucked beneath the surface of this article: 🌿 Dublin’s vegan renaissance isn’t just about food—it’s a subtle reclaiming of cultural identity. Many of these restaurants, like Cornucopia and Govinda’s, have roots stretching back decades, quietly resisting the dominance of meat-heavy Irish cuisine. Their survival and evolution mirror Dublin’s broader shift—from tradition-bound to globally attuned, emotionally conscious, and community-driven. Even newer spots like The Saucy Cow and Glas aren’t just trendy—they’re part of a deeper narrative: one where sustainability, creativity, and inclusivity converge to redefine what it means to be Irish in the 21st century. It’s not just about what’s on the plate—it’s about legacy, renewal, and the quiet power of choice. 🍀
