Top Off Your Weekly Streaming List: Watch "The Night Agent," "Prime Target" and More

23 January 2025

Don't miss the latest on Netflix, Apple TV Plus and more. Here's what's coming the week of Jan. 20 to Jan. 26.

We're heading into a big month for streaming, with several major shows and movies arriving soon. This week alone brings standout films like the Golden Globe-nominated The Wild Robot (streaming exclusively on Peacock) and Star Trek: Section 31 (landing on Paramount Plus) -- not to mention the exciting TV shows about to drop.

Best new TV shows and movies to stream (Jan. 20 to Jan. 26)

Netflix

The Night Agent Season 2 (Jan. 23)

The hit Netflix action thriller The Night Agent returns for a second season. This time around, full-fledged night agent Peter (Gabriel Basso) and Rose (Luciane Buchanan) find themselves targeted by a deadly intelligence broker after a CIA agent is accused of leaking vital secrets. Brittany Snow and Amanda Warren lead the new additions to the cast (playing Peter's night agent partner and his supervisor, respectively). Also joining as regulars are Arienne Mandi, Louis Herthum, Berto Colon, Michael Malarkey, and Keon Alexander. A third season is already in production. All 10 episodes come to Netflix on Jan. 23.

Sakamoto Days (Jan. 25)

Netflix's animated series Sakamoto Days is based on the popular manga by Yuto Suzuki. It follows hitman Taro Sakamoto (voiced in English by Matthew Mercer) as he embraces a new life as a father and husband -- complete with a dad bod. But when he's called into action, he finds that despite being out of shape and out of practice, he's still got his killer instinct. The show premiered on Jan. 11, with new episodes arriving weekly. The third (and final) episode of season one part one, drops this week, and part two is expected to arrive in July.

Max

C.B. Strike: The Ink Black Heart (Jan. 23)

The latest season of the C.B. Strike detective series, which airs on BBC One in the U.K., arrives in the U.S. this week via Max. Based on the novels by Robert Galbraith (J.K. Rowling's pseudonym -- she's also a producer on the series, for what it's worth), the show stars Tom Burke and Holliday Grainger as investigators hired to solve the murder of a TV cartoon creator behind The Ink Black Heart. A new episode will debut in the platform weekly for four weeks starting on Jan. 23.

Peacock

The Wild Robot (Jan, 24)

Adapted from Peter Brown's children's book, The Wild Robot is about the adventures of Roz (Lupita Nyong'o), a shipwrecked robot who has to adapt to the harsh surroundings of a seemingly deserted island. But Roz begins building relationships with the animals on the island, including a fox and orphaned gosling, leading her on an emotional journey that will leave you a little teary.

The Wild Robot's voice cast is pretty incredible, in addition to Nyong'o, it includes Pedro Pascal, Bill Nighy, Stephanie Hsu, Matt Berry, Ving Rhames, Mark Hamill and Catherine O'Hara.

Paramount Plus

Star Trek: Section 31 (Jan, 24)

For the non-Trekkies out there, Section 31 is a covert intelligence agency set in the Star Trek universe -- they're the ones who get their hands dirty behind the scenes to ensure that Earth's otherwise-glossy utopia can continue to thrive. In this new film -- the 14th Star Trek movie and the first made for TV -- Oscar winner Michelle Yeoh (Everything Everywhere All at Once) reprises her Star Trek: Discovery role as Emperor Philippa Georgiou, who joins Section 31 while her dark past begins to catch up with her. Joining Yeoh in the cast are Omari Hardwick, Kacey Rohl, Sam Richardson and Miku Martineau as a young Georgiou. Premieres on Paramount Plus on Jan. 24.

Apple TV Plus

Prime Target (Jan. 22)

This conspiracy thriller stars White Lotus alum Leo Woodall as Edward Brooks, a math whiz who could be on the verge of a world-shaking discovery: the patterns behind prime numbers. While it might sound like homework, it actually unlocks the power to access and control every computer on the planet -- and he's unwittingly caught the attention of groups that place Brooks at the center of a massive conspiracy. Enter NSA agent Taylah Sanders (Quintessa Swindell) who's tasked with keeping tabs on the endangered genius. Stephen Rea, David Morrissey, Martha Plimpton and Sidse Babett Knudsen round out the cast. The first two episodes come to Apple TV Plus on Jan. 22, with the next six dropping weekly.

Prime Video

Harlem Season 3 (Jan. 23)

Best friends Angie (Shoniqua Shandai), Quinn (Grace Byers), Camille (Meagan Good) and Tye (Jerrie Johnson) return after last season's shocking cliffhanger finale. While the show still centers on the professional and personal trials and growth of the "core four," its cast expands in Season 3, with Kofi Siriboe, Logan Browning and Robin Givens. Streams on Prime Video starting Jan. 23.

Blink Twice (Jan. 21)

Alluring tech billionaire Slater King (Channing Tatum) invites cater-waitresses Frida (Naomi Ackie) and Jess (Alia Shawkat) to party with him on his private island, where cell phones are confiscated and all the employees have strange matching snake tattoos. What could go wrong? Zoë Kravitz made her directorial debut with this psychological thriller, which comes to Prime Video on Jan. 21.
