Patrick Wintour is a British journalist and the diplomatic editor of The Guardian. He was previously the newspaper’s political editor from 2006 to 2015 and has a long history of covering UK politics and international affairs.

Born on November 1, 1954, Wintour studied at Corpus Christi College, Oxford before beginning his journalism career at New Statesman in 1976. He later joined The Guardian as chief Labour correspondent in 1983 and held various political reporting roles before becoming political editor of The Observer in 1996.

Wintour is known for his deep connections within the Labour Party and his expertise in geopolitics, diplomacy, and security policy. He has won several awards, including Political Journalist of the Year at the British Press Awards in 2007.

He is the son of Charles Wintour, a former Evening Standard editor, and the brother of Anna Wintour, the editor-in-chief of Vogue.
