Meaghan Tobin is a seasoned journalist currently serving as the Asia technology correspondent for The New York Times. She joined The Times in 2024, bringing with her extensive experience in covering technology and business in Asia, particularly focusing on China's influence in the region.

Before her tenure at The New York Times, Meaghan was a China correspondent for The Washington Post, where she reported on a wide range of topics from undersea cables to generative artificial intelligence. She also worked as a tech reporter at Rest of World and as a staff writer at the South China Morning Post, covering foreign affairs and public health in Southeast Asia and the Pacific.

Meaghan grew up in Massachusetts and holds a bachelor's degree in Public Health from New York University and a master's degree in International Law and Diplomacy from The Fletcher School. Fluent in Mandarin, she has spent much of the past decade living in Taipei, Beijing, and Hong Kong, which has given her a deep understanding of the region.
