Justin Chang is an acclaimed American film critic and columnist, currently working at The New Yorker. Born in Southern California in 1983, Chang graduated from the University of Southern California in 2004. He began his career at Variety magazine, where he eventually became the chief film critic. In 2016, he joined the Los Angeles Times, where his reviews earned him the Pulitzer Prize for Criticism in 2024. Chang is known for his insightful and articulate reviews, contributing regularly to NPR's "Fresh Air" and KPCC's "FilmWeek". He is also the author of the book "FilmCraft: Editing" and serves as the chair of the National Society of Film Critics and the secretary of the Los Angeles Film Critics Association.
