Joseph Ataman

Joseph Ataman is a field producer for CNN, currently based in the network’s Paris bureau. His reporting often focuses on defense in Europe, with coverage spanning France, Ukraine, the EU, and the Middle East.

He studied Geography at St John’s College, Cambridge, where he was also a choral scholar. After graduation, he began his journalism career in Beirut, later working in Turkey and completing a master’s degree in Turkish, Arabic, and Middle Eastern Studies at Harvard.

Outside of journalism, Ataman has a strong musical background—he sang professionally from a young age and played multiple instruments, including the organ and piano. He was also active in extracurriculars like water polo and the RAF Cadets during his school years.
