Gail Flanagan is an Irish academic and linguist currently pursuing a PhD at the University of Limerick, where she also teaches linguistics. Her research focuses on intercultural communicative competence (ICC) within Irelandโ€™s technology sector, particularly examining how Irish English speakers navigate communication in international virtual teams. Drawing on her extensive industry background, Gail is developing practical, experience-based training to enhance online collaboration and communication across cultural boundaries.

Before entering academia, Gail spent over two decades in business and software development support roles in global tech companies. She returned to university in 2018, earning a first-class honours MA in Applied Linguistics, and was later awarded a prestigious Government of Ireland Postgraduate Scholarship by the Irish Research Council. Her work bridges the gap between linguistic theory and real-world application, with a vision to equip students in business, science, and engineering with the communication skills needed for success in todayโ€™s globalized, digital workspaces.
