Elizabeth Dias is the national religion correspondent for The New York Times, bringing 15 years of insightful reporting on religion and politics. She passionately explores the evolving expressions of belief and power in American society, highlighting the values, emotions, and individuals that shape public life. Elizabeth has reported from over 30 states and covered religion in four presidential elections, showcasing her dedication and expertise.

She co-authored the impactful book β€œThe Fall of Roe: The Rise of a New America” with Lisa Lerer, delving into the plan to overturn Roe v. Wade and its profound consequences for women, abortion, and the future of America.

Since joining The Times in 2018, Elizabeth has been an integral part of the national and political reporting teams. Her previous work at Time Magazine saw her covering religion, politics, and national news, where she traveled with Pope Francis, interviewed the Dalai Lama, and explored the rise of conservative Christianity with the Trump movement.

Elizabeth is a proud graduate of Wheaton College and holds a Master of Divinity from Princeton Theological Seminary. Originally from Arizona, she has also lived in Ohio, Germany, and Canada, and now calls Washington, D.C. her home.
