Doug Melville is an author, cultural innovator, and global equity leader whose work bridges business, diversity, and family legacy. He is best known for his book Invisible Generals (2023), which uncovers the overlooked history of America’s first Black generals, Benjamin O. Davis Sr. and Jr., his ancestors.

Doug Melville is a celebrated author, TEDx speaker, and Forbes contributor, recognized as one of today’s most influential voices in equity, inclusion, and reputation management. He has served as Global Head of Culture, Equity & Inclusion at Richemont, the Swiss luxury holding company, and previously at TBWA, a top global advertising agency. His career also includes leadership roles at Magic Johnson Enterprises and advisory work for Tommy Hilfiger’s capital management firm, where he helped build brands and partnerships across industries.

In 2023, Melville published Invisible Generals: Rediscovering Family Legacy, and a Quest to Honor America’s First Black Generals, which became an Amazon #1 best‑selling new release. The book tells the story of his great‑granduncle and great‑grandfather, Benjamin O. Davis Sr. and Jr., who broke barriers in the U.S. military and helped integrate the armed forces. Through this work, Melville highlights how reclaiming hidden family histories can inspire resilience and broaden visions of what is possible today.

Born in Connecticut and an alum of Syracuse University, Melville has traveled to more than 75 countries to study cultural differences and business practices through the lens of diversity and inclusion. He collaborates with institutions like West Point and the U.S. Air Force Academy to honor his family’s contributions and promote recognition of diverse trailblazers. His work blends business innovation, cultural storytelling, and historical justice, making him a unique figure at the intersection of corporate leadership and social impact.
