Derek O'Connor is an Irish writer, editor, and filmmaker known for his contributions to RTÉ and a wide range of cultural platforms. At RTÉ, he serves as an editor and contributor, covering topics from pop culture to cinema and the arts. Beyond broadcasting, he’s one half of the award-winning filmmaking duo Doris/Magee, whose work includes the Celtic Media Award-winning Ponydance: An Scannan and the acclaimed documentary The Prince of Ballyfermot.

O'Connor has written for BAFTA and IFTA-winning television, including CBBC’s Roy, and has contributed to publications such as The Irish Times, Sight & Sound, V Magazine, and Image Magazine. He also co-created the cult satirical site Blogorrah while based in New York, and has held editorial roles at dSIDE, Film West, and U2’s fan magazine Propaganda.

His creative work spans theatre, digital media, and arts festivals, including performances at the New York International Fringe Festival and the Abbey Theatre’s 24 Hour Play Challenge. With a background in arts leadership and a master’s degree from Ulster University, O'Connor continues to shape Ireland’s cultural conversation across mediums.
