DIW Berlin (German Institute for Economic Research) is one of Germany’s leading economic research institutes, founded in 1925. As a member of the Leibniz Association, it conducts socially relevant research, provides policy advice, and supports young researchers. DIW Berlin focuses on economic and social issues, applying a multidisciplinary approach to address challenges from both German and international perspectives. The institute also plays a key role in expanding research data infrastructure, particularly through its Socio-Economic Panel (SOEP), a major longitudinal study. Operating as an independent, publicly funded institution, DIW Berlin engages in scientific discourse, promotes international networking, and contributes to policy debates in Berlin.
