Ashley Ogawa Clarke is a British fashion journalist whose career bridges Japanese design with global media. Born in Grimsby and educated at Goldsmiths College in London, he began his path in fashion through internships and editorial roles before moving to Tokyo via the JET Programme, where his fascination with Japanese culture deepened and shaped his reporting voice.

He rose professionally as deputy editor at MR PORTER and later contributed to major outlets including GQ, The Financial Times, Business of Fashion, and Condé Nast Traveller. His recognition as runner‑up in British Vogue’s Talent Contest for Young Writers in 2016 marked him as a rising voice in fashion journalism, and today he serves as Tokyo correspondent for Vogue Runway and Vogue Business, while also writing for the Wall Street Journal.

Clarke’s perspective is defined by his ability to connect Japanese tradition with global fashion narratives. Living in Tokyo with his wife, stylist Reina Ogawa Clarke, he continues to highlight how anime, streetwear, and avant‑garde design influence contemporary style. His work positions him as a cultural bridge, making Japanese fashion resonate worldwide through sharp editorial analysis and storytelling.
